Back to the Future
September 11 2007
I can still hear Huey Lewis busting out "Power of Love". I can picture a young Michael J Fox tailgating a convertible jeep on his skateboard, waving to all the ladies at the fitness club. "Back to the Future" is the ultimate movie of my childhood. And Michael J Fox is definitely still an idol.
Why did this blog entry come about? Recently I was watching True Hollywood Story and I happened to catch an episode based on the life of Michael J Fox. It brought back a tonne of memories and reminded me that he is on a much different journey now-a-days. His ongoing quest to find a cure for Parkinson's and the incredible efforts he has given is beyond inspiring. My childhood idol remains my idol today, but for very different reasons. More practical reasons than a cool kid on a skateboard.
If anyone is interested in learning more about Parkinson's, and how you can help, please visit michaeljfox.org. And if you haven't ever seen Back to the Future, you really should rent the trilogy. I assure you, it will not disappoint.

The Swarming
September 05 2007
Hi Guys,
Sorry for the delay in a new posting. I've been on holidays for a while. Some much needed "R and R".
While I was away I recorded this quick clip which captures several flying termites in a swarm. It was crazy actually, at about 9:PM the flying termites all of a sudden start leaving their nests to begin "swarming". Thousands of them exiting tiny holes in the ground. Once airborne, the termites must take their chances against their number one rival, the birds. It's basically an acrobatic showdown for about 20 minutes while the birds feed on the termites.
Thought you'd like to check this out. Sorry for the fuzzy pic. It's from a low-res video.
